VALENTINE'S DAY WHAT IF PINK WAS PURPLE - LOOK

Keeping it soft, keeping it simple, this Valentine's Day inspired look asks the question of why reds and pinks get all the hype on V-Day.  Purple, the pink alternative, is featured today.
EYES
  • Applied Too Face Eye Shadow Insurance primer from lid to brow bone.
  • Used NYX Jumbo Pencil in "Milk" on the lids and tapped it until there was even coverage to help my shadows adhere better and be truer to their color.
  • Using a paddle brush in a patting motion, I applied a white, frosted eye shadow Stila "Moonlight" from inner corner to about 2/3 of the way across my lid.  Patting the shadow on helps pack on the color so it is more opaque.
  • Using the same paddle brush but the opposite side, I applied Urban Decay's "AC/DC" eye shadow to the out 1/3 of my lid.  This is a cool toned purple.
  • Next using both sides of the brush interchangeably, using a wiggle motion I created a gradient where the colors met so they blended into one another.
  • Using a fluffy blending brush I applied Urban Decay "Fishnet" eye shadow into the crease and brought it up a little higher so you can see it peaking over my eye lids.  "Fishnet" is a warm toned purple so it nicely contrasts with the cool toned "AC/DC".
  • With a pencil brush I mixed a little bit of MAC "Print" and MAC "Deep Craving" eye shadows and applied them in the crease only to help give depth to this area.
  • I then went back over the crease with a little bit more of Urban Decay "AC/DC" eye shadow to ensure  everything blended nicely together.
  • To ensure I had lovely edges I did a light dusting around the edges with MAC "Brule" eye shadow, which matches my skin tone.
EYES CONTINUED
  • Now that the upper lids were done it was time to do the lower lash line.  To help the eye shadows stick and last I started with some eye liners as a base.  In the outer 1/3 of the eye I used Urban Decay "Vice" eye pencil and topped it with Urban Decay "AC/DC" eye shadow.
  • Next I applied Urban Decay "Asphyxia" eye pencil on the middle 1/3 of the lash line and topped that with Urban Decay "Fishnet" eye shadow.
  • Then I applied Urban Decay "Yeyo" eye pencil on the inner 1/3 of the lash line and topped that with Stila "Moonlight" eye shadow.
  • To finish it all off I applied Stila "Topaz" on the waterline to help reduce any redness there and help open the eyes up visually.
  • To finish off the eyes I used Benefit They're Real mascara on the upper and lower lashes.

BROWS

Today's brows needed to pack a punch so I applied Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade in "Auburn" with an angled brush.
FACE
  • Starting with a clean, moisturized face that had time to settle in, I applied my Make Up For Ever HD Foundation in #N117 with a Beauty Blender by pouncing the product all over.
  • Giving the foundation time to settle, I next applied my eye concealer Tarte Maracuja in "Fair".
  • I then lightly, and sparingly, patted Make Up For Ever HD Powder with a fluffy brush over the concealer to make sure it didn't crease or move around.
  • Next, using a large angle brush I applied NARS "Laguna" Bronzer on the back cheek bones, jawline, temples, and a little bit around the hair line of my forehead.
  • To finish it off I applied my favorite blush MAC "Cream Soda" to the apples of my cheeks and a tiny bit on my chin.
LIPS

Normally i don't call out lips separately like this but I felt the need because I love this color.  Before I started applying my makeup, just after cleaning my face and moisturizing, I applied some Vaseline to my lips to get them ready and moisturized.  When it was time for the makeup finisher, I applied MAC "Out to Please" lip stick.
