MAC's latest collection includes this new fluidline "Phlox Garden". This has quickly become a staple item in my makeup bag.
THE PACKAGING
Branded with the standard MAC black top and glass container, this gel liner packaging is lovely. I like how small it is compared to other gel liner pots that I have seen on the market; it doesn't take up any unnecessary space. Because the main container is glass it is a bit heavier than other brands but it is not so much that I would not travel with it.
SWATCHESPhlox Garden is described as a vivid violet by MAC. I guess when I think of violet I think of a blue based violet whereas this color is more of a red based violet.
THE PERFORMANCE
This product goes on opaque can last quite a while before you need to dip back into the gel liner pot to refresh your color. It is a creamy dream, as a gel liner should be, in that it is easy to work with when you first dip your brush in but it will dry within a few minutes and then it is there until you wash the stuff off. Also, because of the texture, it makes super crisp lines when you use the proper brush/applicator such as an angled brush but in my experience it is much easier to use than a liquid liner.
A CAUTIONARY TALE
If you do purchase a gel liner, please, please, please be mindful of keeping the lid on when it is not being used as these will dry out over time. The better you take care of it, the longer this product will last.
THE CALCULATIONS
This product is currently listed at $16.00 and will last you about a 9 month to a year if you were to use it every day.
THE VERDICT
I'm totally sold on this gel liner. I love the color, I love the texture/consistency of the product, and the packaging is nice. The cost is reasonable considering how much use you can get out of it. Phlox Garden, I love you long time.
